The landscape redevelopment project was strongly supported and funded by the Forti Sergio family to provide the elderly and/or individuals with reduced mobility, residing in the RSA facilities of Mogliano “Santa Colomba” and Loro Piceno “Pacifico Bonfranceschi,” with the opportunity to engage in outdoor activities in the near future. In the new park, guests can move around freely and safely in a well-maintained, equipped green space. On pleasant days, they will be able to participate in recreational or creative activities, including those with therapeutic purposes (e.g., Alzheimer’s care), or enjoy their favorite pastimes, such as tending to small vegetable gardens or growing flowers.
The gazebo area, featuring a large structure, will serve as the focal point for socialization and group therapeutic activities. Among the pedestrian pathways (made with a recyclable and permeable honeycomb structure, filled with natural gravel and suitable for wheelchair use) and shaded areas, guests can enjoy the shade of tall native trees, as well as the colors and fragrances of flower beds and rose bushes during the warmer months. Guests will finally be able to meet with their families outdoors, while children can play safely in a healthy and joyful environment. The use of concrete has been deliberately avoided in favor of natural engineering solutions, such as wooden retaining walls. We aimed to preserve and enhance the existing trees while softening the architectural lines of the large facility. This greener vision for the outdoor spaces placed a strong emphasis on environmental sustainability, including energy and water conservation.
In conclusion, this was a significant intervention aimed at serving vulnerable individuals, but it also holds great landscape value, as green spaces have been reclaimed from areas previously used for parking
